Maureen Paton is a freelance journalist, specialising in the arts, show-business and women's issues.
Among her exclusives are reports on Muslim brothels in Britain and the Jewish girl who joined Hitler Youth  as well as major interviews with every interesting celebrity from  Maya Angelou, Jeff Bridges, John Hurt, Boy George, Michael Douglas, Emma Thompson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sigourney Weaver and Ian McShane. She has also written  law, health, literary and media features and is the author of two books, Alan Rickman: The Unauthorised Biography and The Best Of Women: The History Of Women Of The Year.
She is a  former committee member and former newsletter editor of the campaigning organisation Women In Journalism (WiJ). As the co-author (with Meg Carter and Mimi Turner) of  the ground-breaking WiJ report Real Women: The Hidden Sex,  she researched the sexism behind  the use of photographic images of women in national newspapers. As a feminist who likes men, she has been inspired by two remarkable male feminists: her uncle Ralph Moffatt  and her husband Liam Maguire.
